Bartel scores lone goal to lift Ferndale over Lynden 1-0


The Ferndale girls' soccer team defeated Lynden 1-0 on Thursday, Oct. 24, in a Northwest Conference matchup at Lynden High School.

Jordin Bartel scored the Golden Eagles' lone goal in the 12th minute off a penalty kick in the box.

"I thought it was a fairly even match ... I thought it was a good game of soccer," Lynden coach Katie Yoder said in a phone interview.

Lynden goalie Emily Holt recorded 12 saves as Ferndale out-shot Lynden18-7.

"Emily Holt is a great, solid goalkeeper," Yoder said. "Our defense really held together."
