Blaine takes fifth set to top Sedro-Woolley 3-2

The Blaine volleyball team defeated Sedro-Woolley 25-21, 25-19, 20-25, 19-25, 15-9 on Thursday, Oct. 24, in a Northwest Conference matchup at Sedro-Woolley.

After commanding the first two sets, the Borderites faltered in the next two to let the cubs back into the match.

"You got to hand it to Sedro-Woolley to come back and win the next two," Blaine coach Bryan Clausen said in a phone interview. "They outplayed us from top to bottom in games 3 and 4."

Blaine came back to win the deciding fifth game to capture the win.

"Our girls beared down and they pulled through," Clausen said. "I told them they have to want it more than Sedro-Woolley, and they showed it."

Mikayla Deming led the Borderites with 14 kills. Mandy Hayes added eight blocks, and Lexi Greguski had 18 digs.
