Supports Miller for Ferndale council

COURTESY TO THE BELLINGHAM HERALDOctober 24, 2013

Why should you vote for Stacy Miller for Ferndale City Council? First a few facts:

Nearly 17 percent of Ferndale residents are below the poverty line, gangs are growing, homeless and mentally ill citizens are seen daily. The syringe I recently found on my property is evidence of drug abuse. The early morning drunken tirades and domestic conflicts ruining my sleep on hot summer nights confirm Ferndale is not a quaint, idyllic little community.

Our city council has members looking out for business, for public safety, and lord knows more than a couple making sure that we get our money's worth. What I don't see on the council though is someone with an interest in confronting Ferndale's social problems.

Now we can stick our collective heads in the sand and pretend our social problems will go away. They won't.

Stacy has a long history of service in both business, government, and the non-profit world. She is aware of the costs and benefits of both confronting and not confronting social problems. She knows that Ferndale doesn't have the fiscal resources to support a social service bureaucracy yet wants to create ways for the city to work effectively and efficiently with non-profits and other governmental bodies to face Ferndale's social problems. She can provide the leadership our community needs to make a better Ferndale.

I urge you to vote for Stacy Miller Nov. 5th.
