Ferndale boys' tennis players lose at WesCo South

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDOctober 22, 2013

Fernale's boys' tennis team sent two singles players and two doubles teams to the 3A WesCo South Division Tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Glacier Peak High School. All were eliminated in the first round of the single-elimination tournament, but Ferndale coach Rudy Vendiola was impressed with their performance.

"Rafe Stanage and Chase Olson had the best performance," Vendiola said in a phone interview. "They competed in every game, but their competitors were really good, too. The format with one-and-done makes it hard because if you have one off game it really hurts you."

Stanage and Olson lost to a team from Glacier Peak 6-1, 6-3. The Golden Eagles' Maxwell Jeffrey and Jacob Sorenson lost to a team from Shorewood High School 6-1, 6-0.

Ferndale singles players Colton Young and Liam Dickman also lost, but Vendiola said they were competitive for every point.
