Squalicum volleyball gets past Mount Baker

Squalicum volleyball defeated Mount Baker 25-11, 24-26, 25-14, 25-13 on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Mount Baker.

Mount Baker was led by Sarah Verry's 23 digs and Natalie Smith's five kills. The Mountaineers fall to 3-9 overall and 3-7 in the Northwest Conference with the loss to Squalicum (7-5, 6-4 NWC).

"In the second game we were more aggressive, we hit a lot better and didn't have as many unforced errors," Mount Baker coach Mary LeSage said in a phone interview. "Squalicum played well, was aggressive defensively, and got to balls I didn't think were coming back (over the net)."

Squalicum's next match is at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at home against Lynden Christian. Mount Baker plays next at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at Anacortes.
