Trio leads Lions' volleyball past Borderites

Lynden took down Blaine 25-17, 25-13, 18-25, 25-16 on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Blaine High School.

Kat Webb led the Lions with 13 kills and Hannah Rothwell connected for nine kills.

Stephanie Somers caught the attention of Lynden coach Julie Clift with seven kills.

"She was consistent on the right side," Clift said in a phone interview. "She had an outstanding night."

Lynden (4-7, NWC 4-5) mixed up the lineups in the third set, made some mistakes and dropped a set, Clift said.

The Lions came back and won the fourth set to snag the victory.

Lynden travels back home to play Ferndale on Thursday, Oct. 24. Blaine (1-11, NWC 1-9) goes on the road to face Sedro-Woolley on Thursday.
