Lyncs' volleyball takes winning ways on the road

Lynden Christian defeated Meridian 25-14, 25-17, 25-8 on the road Tuesday, Oct. 22.

The Lyncs (10-1, NWC 9-1) were led by Morgan Van Kooten and Madison Weg, who both tallied six kills. Weg also added 19 assists. Erika Shaw also was key in the win as she recorded 16 digs.

Claire Burkett starred on Meridian's side with 18 digs while Alexia Bernardy snagged six digs as well.

Meridian (1-11, NWC 0-10) coach Shannon Claeys still found positives in the loss.

"I think we communicated well," Claeys said in a phone interview. "We played positive and we played hard even when we were down."

There are still some things to work on, however.

"We need to work on being more aggressive," Claeys said.

Meridian takes on Sehome on Thursday, Oct. 24 at Sehome High School. The Lyncs face Squalicum on Thursday at Squalicum High School.
