New Directions choir gives voice to homeless veterans

The award-winning New Directions Veterans Choir, which consists primarily of men and women who became homeless following their service in the U.S. military, performs at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 at Mount Baker Theatre, 104 N. Commercial St.

The award-winning New Directions Veterans Choir, which consists primarily of men and women who became homeless following their service in the U.S. military, performs at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Mount Baker Theatre, 104 N. Commercial St.

The group's members are also current and former residents of non-profit veteran services organization New Directions' transitional facility, as well as family members of veterans.

New Directions gave the performers hope and direction, and now, as an a cappella ensemble, the choir sings renditions of doo-wop, soul, gospel and pop music.
