I don't understand the reasoning behind people who are against Obamacare. Many people say that Obamacare is un-American or socialist because everyone is required to purchase insurance. What's so wrong with being insured? If someone can't afford to buy the insurance they will be approved for Medicaid. So to me it seems like a win-win situation. I feel that this is definitely an improvement from what we have done in the past.
I recently saw a segment on Jimmy Kimmel that went on the streets of Hollywood and asked people of their preference between Obamacare and the Affordable Healthcare Act. Not only did the majority of people not realize that they were exactly the same thing but even bashed Obamacare and praised the Affordable Healthcare Act. It surprised me how many people agree with the policy but create opposition because of its name.
So many people are in dire situations where they need to be insured but can't afford it. I have heard so many stories of people around me who can't afford to send their children to the dentist and have serious medical conditions that can't be treated. This country's health care system obviously needs a lot of help. I am so relieved that Washington decided to expand Medicaid. People in struggling financial situations will finally get the insurance they need to be and stay healthy.
