The Blaine girls' soccer team defeated Friday Harbor 3-1 on Saturday, Oct. 19, at Blaine.

Bianca Rodriguez scored the first high school goal in the second minute off an assist from Olivia Olason.

"The first one was exciting for Bianca," Blaine coach Kelly Tuski said in a phone interview. "She played like she wasn't a freshman, and she has been improving steadily throughout the season."

Olason added to Blaine's lead with a goal in the 24th minute off an assist from Caitlyn Sharp. Friday Harbor's Emma Brand brought the Wolverines to within one after she converted on a penalty kick, but Makayah Veliz's goal in the 63rd minute sealed the Borderites' win.

"It was a good win," Tuski said. "We were all over the field ... and we had some really pretty goals."
