Baker bests Meridian in straight sets

The Mount Baker volleyball team defeated Meridian 25-20, 25-12, 25-23 on Saturday, Oct. 19, at Meridian High School.

"The first game was back and forth, and really competitive," Meridian coach Shannon Claeys said in a phone interview. "We just couldn't close out that first game."

The Mountaineers took the momentum they gathered after winning the first set to easily win the second, 25-12, but the Trojans battled back in the third.

"I was really proud of the way they came back after losing the second set," Claeys said. "We just couldn't put some crucial points together, though."

Claire Burkett led the Trojans with eight kills, and Allecia Galindo had five kills and 10 digs.
