Sedro-Woolley reels off 28 unanswered to top Anacortes


The Sedro-Woolley football team defeated Anacortes 35-7 on Friday, Oct. 18, at Sedro-Woolley in a Northwest Conference 2A matchup.

With the win, Sedro moves to 5-2 overall, 4-1 in conference, and Anacortes falls to 4-3 overall, 2-3 in the NWC.

The Cubs got the scoring effort going early with a 61-yard touchdown run from Avery Rooks. Quinten Roppel added a 41-yard TD run to give Sedro-Woolley a strong 14-0 lead entering the second quarter.

The Cubs reeled off 28 unanswered before Anacortes got its lone touchdown of the game. A fourth-quarter touchdown by Jacob Kenney rounded out the scoring for Sedro-Woolley in the win.

Rooks finished the game with 98 yards on 16 carries. Shawn Kennedy had 13 carries and 96 yards.
