Lummi's Medina takes Lake Lap Invitational

Lummi's Enrique Medina placed first in the Lake Lap Invitational on Thursday, Oct. 17, at Lake Padden.

Medina ran the course in a personal-best 14 minutes, 6.8 seconds.

"For him to come out and take first place through all the other teams was pretty awesome," Lummi cross country coach Amy Kruckeberg said in a phone interview.

Ferndale was led by Roberto Aguilera, who took second in 14:11.3, and his teammate Kaleb Palmby was third with a time of 14:15.9. Lynden Christian was led by Jon Wiley's time of 14:34.9. Thomas Swineford led Lynden with a time of 14:51.8.

Nooksack Valley's Jimmy Haggen led the way for the Pioneers at 19:32.6. Lummi's Jason James also recorded a personal best at the invite, placing 44th but topping his old mark by eight seconds.

The Northwest Conference Boys' Cross Country Championships take place at 5:10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24.
