Sarah Hollander won the 100 backstroke and contributed to two winning relay teams as Lynden girls' swimming defeated Sedro-Woolley 111-59 on Thursday, Oct. 17, at Lynden YMCA.
Hollander and the 200 medley relay team edged out the Sedo-Woolley team by 0.26 seconds with a time of 2:12.60. She also was a member of the 200 freestyle relay team that won with a time of 1:56.81. Hollander swam in the 200 freestyle relay to try to get a best time to qualify for the district meet.
"Sarah had a good day, her backstroke wasn't her best time ... but she still got first," Lynden coach Linda Bode said in a phone interview. "She got second in the 200 IM and went extremely hard against Arlissa Oettel from Nooksack Valley, who got two best times today."
Lynden's next swim meet is at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Lynden YMCA against Ferndale.
