Dorr lifts Squalicum past Ferndale 2-1

The Squalicum girls' soccer team defeated Ferndale 2-1 on Thursday, Oct. 17, at Squalicum High School.

Kim Dorr scored her first goal in the 17th minute off an assist from Kelly Anderson. The Storm held the slight one-goal advantage up until right before half when Ferndale's Jordin Bartel tied the match up.

"That kind of killed our momentum," Squalicum coach David Kish said in a phone interview.

Dorr would answer back with what turned out to be the game-winning goal two minutes into the second half. Dorr received a corner from Lauren Gibb and placed it in the net.

"That second goal was right place at the right time," Kish said. "We knew it was going to be a good test for us, and both teams played pretty well."
