Nooksack Valley volleyball loses late to Anacortes


The Nooksack Valley volleyball team lost a heartbreaker to Anacortes 20-25, 17-25, 26-24, 25-23, 15-12 on Thursday, Oct. 17, at Anacortes.

The Pioneers were ahead 24-20 in the third set with a chance to seal the win.

"We just couldn't finish," Nooksack Valley coach Katie Emmons said in a phone interview. "(Anacortes) turned on their defense, and we just couldn't finish plays."

Lindsay Hayes led the Pioneers with 26 kills. Taryn Tenkley added 16 kills and 27 digs, and Mariah Perry had 31 digs.
