Squalicum volleyball involves everyone in win over Blaine


Squalicum volleyball got its entire team involved as the Storm swept Blaine 25-6, 28-26, 25-12 on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Squalicum High School. Squalicum was led by Tirsa Randall-Grutter's 17 assists in the win.

"(In the second set) Blaine played better and we got all of our younger kids in," Squalicum coach Laurie Quigley said in a phone interview. "They battled well. It was a good match for our whole team."

Katie Alvord added five blocks for the Storm. Squalicum improved to 6-4 overall and 5-3 in the Northwest Conference. With the loss, Blaine fell to 1-8 overall, 1-7 NWC.

Squalicum's next match is at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at home against Ferndale. Blaine plays next at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at Mount Baker.
