Mount Baker volleyball scores first win

Mount Baker volleyball notched its first win of the season in a 17-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-16 win over Sedro-Woolley on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Sedro-Woolley High School. The Mountaineers were led by Emma Lallas' eight kills and four aces.

"(After the first set) the girls just realized there were things they needed to control," Mount Baker coach Mary LeSage said in a phone interview. "We came out slow and let them set the pace, but in the last three sets we set the tone. We decreased our unforced errors and started hitting better."

Sara Verry had 22 digs and two aces for Mount Baker, and Emily Yost added 25 assists. The Mountaineers' Natalie Smith also added seven kills.

Mount Baker's next match is at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at home against Blaine.
