Here's a news release from the Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber & Industry about a new credit union in Bellingham:

The Alaska USA Federal Credit Union has expanded into Bellingham in the Haggen store at Sehome Village.

The new location is open for membership to anyone who "lives, works, worships or attends school in Washington state".  With 67 branches throughout Alaska, western Washington and the high desert region in California, Alaska USA is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative with nearly half a million members worldwide.

Alaska USA has 26 branches in Washington, as far north as Bellingham and as far south as Olympia. The credit union opened its first branch in Washington 30 years ago and offers a full range of financial solutions, including business services, home loans through Alaska USA Mortgage Company, and insurance through Alaska USA Insurance Brokers.

The organization was founded in 1948.  The Bellingham branch is conveniently open Mon-Fri 10:-7:00, Saturday 10:00-6:00 and Sunday from 11:00-3:00, except on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day.  It features an ATM, self-service center and night depository.
