Arlington angler wins new salmon fishing mount

Jason Edwards of Arlington is the winner of the 2013 Northwest Marine Trade Association's $60,000 sport fishing boat package giveaway, part of its Northwest Salmon Derby Series.

Contestants in series fishing contests have a raffle ticket dropped in the hat for each derby they fish. Also, anyone may enter this drawing by logging onto NSDS's Web site and taking a survey. Edwards' eventual winning entry was submitted when he participated in July's Harbor Marine Salmon Derby in Everett.

This year's grand prize package consists of a new 22-foot aluminum hull River Hawk, with dual powerplants including a 150-horsepower Mercury four-stroke outboard motor together with a 9.9-horsepower kicker motor transported on a tandem axle galvanized Karavan boat trailer. In addition Edwards new fishing craft is decked out with Lowrance radar, GPS, depthfinder and VHF radio sets as well as a Dual stereo system and a brace of Scotty electric downriggers.

The 15-event 2013 Northwest Salmon Derby Series calendar has two contests, the Nov. 2-3 Bayside Marine Salmon Derby at Everett and Friday Harbor's Resurrection Salmon Derby in early December. Fishers of these contests will have raffle tickets place in the 2014 NSDS drawing.

Among other prize winners in this year's NSDS is Lynden's John Rammerman who landed a money fish in a 2008 or newer Mercury engine equipped boat netting him a $3000 Mercury Marine Salmon Derby Challenge.
