State patrol looking for witnesses to Blaine bus crash

Washington State Patrol is seeking additional witnesses to a car vs. school bus crash that happened Oct. 3 near Blaine.

Detectives have already talked to five witnesses. They ask anyone else who saw or heard anything, or who knows someone who saw or heard anything, including events leading up to the crash, contact Detective Sgt. Jerry Cooper at 360-805-1192 or Detective Ben McBride at 360-805-1195.

A Pontiac Grand Prix hit a Blaine school bus as it turned through the fog from Alderson Road onto Blaine Road about 7:45 a.m.

The car driver, Austin Markusen, has been hospitalized at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle since the crash, according to hospital officials. His passenger, Krista Wieandt, was treated at St. Joseph hospital and released the next day, said hospital spokeswoman Amy Cloud. The students on the bus weren't injured.
