Mount Baker falls to Burlington-Edison in straight sets

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDOctober 10, 2013

The Mount Baker volleyball team fell to Burlington-Edison 25-9, 25-19, 25-9 on Thursday, Oct. 10, in a Northwest Conference matchup at Mount Baker.

The Mountaineers lost starting middle Annabeth Gunderson early in the first set to a broken thumb. Her loss thrust new players into new positions, Mount Baker coach Mary LeSage said in a phone interview.

"We had to do some shuffling, and the girls played pretty hard after that," LeSage said. "They just fought hard."

LeSage was particularly happy with the play of Emily Yost, who had to move into a position she had little to no experience in following the loss of Gunderson.

"Just raw effort in helping with everything," LeSage said of Yost.
