Ball, Young pace Lynden Christian girls' cross country

Sarah Ball and McKenzie Young finished second and third, respectively, to lead Lynden Christian girls' cross country to a win over Sedro-Woolley, Squalicum and Blaine on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Northern State. Race winner Stephanie Schlimmer, from Sedro-Woolley, won the 5K race in a time of 20 minutes, 31 seconds.

Bell took second with a time of 20:59, and Young was right behind her at 21:01 as the Lyncs registered 30 team points for the win. Sedro-Woolley took second with 41 points, followed by Squalicum's 55.

Christina Lilleston led Squalicum with a time of 22:04, and Kieya Villars paced Blaine's runners with a time of 22:00.

Blaine and Squalicum race next at 9:40 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Lakewood High School for the Hole in the Wall Invite. Lynden Christian's next race is at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at Lake Padden for the Lake Lap Invite.
