Nooksack Valley volleyball squeaks out win over Squalicum


Nooksack Valley volleyball grinded out a win against Squalicum 16-25, 25-23, 22-25, 25-17, 16-14 on Thursday, Oct. 10, at Nooksack Valley. The Pioneers were led by Lindsay Hayes' 23 kills and 24 digs in the match.

"It was a very collective win," Nooksack Valley coach Katie Emmons said in a phone interview. "Our defense was really disciplined and we were consistent all night with our hitting and serving."

Taryn Tenkley added nine kills for Nooksack Valley, and Mariah Perry had 32 digs. Abbi Steele dished out 32 assists for the Pioneers.

Nooksack Valley's next match is at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at home against Friday Harbor. Squalicum plays next at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at home against Blaine.
