Ferndale runners take second, third in meet

Ferndale runner Roberto Aguilera placed second overall and first among his Golden Eagles teammates to help lead Ferndale to a second-place finish during a cross country meet Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Burlington Airport.

Burlington-Edison won the meet with a score of 26 points, Ferndale recorded 34 and Mount Baker scored 68 points. Tigers runner Wyatt Mullen won the race with a time of 16 minutes, 44 seconds.

Behind Aguilera, Kaleb Palmby placed second on his team with a 17:36 run, Matthew Steiber was third with an 18:31, Wiley Wright was fourth best with a 19:08 and Wesley Cruse rounded out Ferndale's top-five runners, completing the 5K course in 19:09.

Mount Baker's Shelby Miles was the first Mountaineer to cross the finish line. He completed the race in 18:06. Teammate Josh Meyer took second with a 19:13, and Ishmael Villaluz finished third amongst his team with a 19:18.

Both teams race in the Hole in the Wall Invite next at 9:40 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Lakewood High School in Arlington.
