Lynden volleyball sweeps Mount Baker



Lynden volleyball defeated Mount Baker in straight sets Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Lynden. The Lions were led by Hannah Rothwell's six aces, as they won 25-11, 25-12, 25-11.

"We came out strong tonight ... and were able to control the tempo the whole match, which we've been working on," Lynden coach Julie Clift said in a phone interview. "(Rothwell) was consistent getting to the net and blocking tonight as well."

Alexa Shindruk had 19 digs for Lynden, and Kat Webb added 9 kills. The Lions improved to 3-5 overall and 3-3 in the Northwest Conference, while Mount Baker fell to 0-7 overall and 0-5 in NWC play.

Lynden's next match is at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Capital in Olympia for the Capital City Classic. Mount Baker plays next at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, when the Mountaineers host Burlington-Edison.
