Golden Eagles score eight goals in win over Pioneers

The Ferndale girls' soccer team defeated Nooksack Valley 8-1 on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Ferndale High School.

Jordin Bartel scored the Golden Eagles' first two goals, with Ali Gonzalez and Jillian Monson recording the assists. Gonzalez would score Ferndale's third goal, and Monson would add back-to-back goals after her to give the Golden Eagles a five-goal advantage by the 24th minute.

"Jordin was on fire," Ferndale coach Joe Gonzalez said in a phone interview. "But I can't hand it to any one player today. ... I am really happy with all the sequence of plays."

Ali Gonzalez added her second goal of the game, followed by goals by Katelyn Goode and Kayla Downs.

Nooksack Valley's lone goal came from Tori VandeHoef in the 47th minute.

"You got to give it to Nooksack Valley," Joe Gonzalez said. "We were knocking the ball around well."
