Ferndale boys' tennis fights for win over Lynden

Ferndale boys' tennis defeated Lynden 4-3 on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Ferndale. The matchup lasted two days due to a rain delay on Monday, Oct. 7.

The Golden Eagles' Evan Chapin and Tate Freeman defeated Tore Olson and Dylan Meenk in a close three-set match. Chapin and Freeman won the first set 7-6 after a tiebreak, but lost the second set 4-6. In the third set, Chapin and Freeman won another 7-6 tiebreak to take the match.

"(Chapin's and Freeman's match) showed a lot of mental fortitude from both teams," Ferndale coach Rudy Vendiola said in a phone interview. "Chase Olson's three-set win was a battle, it was a game with adjustments."
