Squalicum girls' soccer beats Sedro-Woolley 6-1, remains unbeaten in conference


The Squalicum girls' soccer team scored three goals during a four-minute, second-half span to beat Sedro-Woolley 6-1 in a Northwest Conference match Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Northwest Soccer Fields in Bellingham.

Lauren Gibb recorded a team-high two goals, including the first of three scores from the 50th to 54th minute. Lizzy Herda, Brooklyn Bell-Stevenson, Braeden Hilleary and Kim Hazlett each scored a goal. Rachel Dorr had two assists.

Junior varsity keeper Aly Langer got called up to varsity after starter Bailey Canup missed the match. Langer allowed one goal and made four saves.

"Our second half was huge for us," Squalicum coach David Kish said in a phone interview. "The second half we played a simplier game, and we played a lot better."

Squalicum (7-1-2, 5-0-1 NWC) travels to play Nooksack Valley next at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10.
