The Bellingham boys' tennis team earned a 5-2 Northwest Conference victory over Anacortes on Monday, Oct. 7, at Bellingham High School.
In singles, Bellingham had wins from Charlie Carmichael and Jay Andrews, but the match of the day may have been Liam Miszczak's 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 loss at No. 1 singles to Anacortes' Jared Wigen, two contenders in the Class 2A ranks, according to Bellingham coach Steve Chronister.
In doubles, Bellingham's No. 1 team of Connor Thompson and Nick Nolan earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Anacortes' Kaleb Wigen and Kevin Xue.
"They played an excellent match and beat a really good team," Chronister said in a phone interview of his doubles team.
Bellingham (9-2, 8-1) also had doubles wins from the teams of Logan Schilder/Nate Pearsall and Chad Cheldelin/Chris Nakatani.
