WWU women's golf third at invitational


With no player able to break 80, Western Washington University is third among eight teams after Friday's round at the Saint Martin's Invitational being played at the Olympia Golf and Country Club in Olympia.

Saturday's final round begins at 10 a.m.

The Vikings shot 326. British Columbia leads at 308, with Hawaii Hilo second at 316. The host Saints are fourth (330), followed by Concordia (332), Victoria (333), Northwest Nazarene (340) and Simon Fraser (359).

Kristen Hansen paces WWU, being tied for 13th after shooting 8-over par 80.

The Vikings' Audrey Orem is tied for 15th (81) with Anna Bourland tied for 17th (82), Brooke Branigan tied for 21st (83) and Emily Koryto 26th (85).

Northwest Nazarene's Samantha Miller tops the medalist standings after shooting 2-over 74. That is one stroke better than Saint Martin's Grace Dyer.

Hawaii Hilo's Kristen Sawada and British Columbia's Kat Kennedy are tied for third, both shooting 76s.
