Sehome girls' soccer beats mud, Mount Baker

Sehome girls' soccer defeated Mount Baker 3-1 on Thursday, Oct. 3, at Northwest Fields behind a goal and an assist from the Mariners' Marie Kochman. Jamie Johnson had nine saves for Mount Baker, and impressed Sehome coach Andria Fountain.

"She made some nice saves, but we just kept plugging away," Fountain said in a phone interview. "The field was a little sloppy, but I thought we put together a pretty nice offensive game today. To get that many good shots and goals was good."

Ashley Mindnich and Kate Peterson scored the other two goals for Sehome. Andrea Zucchi and Fiona Dawson each pitched in an assist for the Mariners.

The Mountaineers' goal came late in the game by India Hines, who was unassisted.

Mount Baker plays at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Bender Fields against Lynden. Sehome's next game is at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Civic Field against Bellingham.
