Increasing numbers of American people no longer trust the American people

Don't you hate it when reality imitates The Onion?

Here's a report from Gallup Politics, where poll results are showing that the American people's trust in the American people is at an all-time low.

True, 61 percent of those polled still say they trust the American people to make good political judgments. Congress and Barack Obama are not within shouting distance of that kind of approval rating. But that rating is down from 78 percent as recently as 2005.

Interestingly enough, those who told pollsters they were Democrats were more likely to say they trusted the American people. The American people only get a 57 percent approval rating from Republicans.
