Burlington-Edison girls' swimming defeated Ferndale 93-76 on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Lynden YMCA. The Golden Eagles were led by their 400 freestyle relay team of Robby Grant, Anne Marie Vandersypen, Marissa Cruz and Mia Wagoner, who won the race with a time of five minutes, 44.4 seconds.
"We had the most best times we have had all season ... more than 22 best times," Ferndale coach Julia Garrison said in a phone interview.
Vandersypen and Wagoner also helped Ferndale's 200 medley relay team win in a time of 2:29.35, along with teammates Alyssa Rankin and Caitlin Wilhoite. Wilhoite won the 100 freestyle and helped the 200 freestyle relay team to a win as well.
Ferndale's next swim meet is at 3:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at the Arne Hanna Aquatic Center against Bellingham.
