Whatcom Community College volleyball fell to Everett Community College 26-24, 16-25, 21-25, 25-23, 16-9 on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at WCC. The Orcas managed to keep each set close, as ECC had to battle back to win the match.
"We let Everett back in it multiple times due to errors," WCC coach Angie Short said in a phone interview. "Our serve-receive broke down at times tonight."
The Orcas were led by Grace Bills' 12 kills and two blocks in the close loss. Jaydee Schmidt added 18 kills, two aces and 12 digs for the Orcas, and Alex Wilkinson pitched in 36 assists.
"We're competing and I love to see that. They're definitely not quitters," Short said.
WCC's next match is at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Olympic Community College.
