Sheriff: Bellingham man offered girl cash for sex, nude photos

BELLINGHAM - A 19-year-old Bellingham man has been arrested on suspicion of offering cash to a random underage girl for oral sex and nude photos.

Anthony Taylor Duran found a 14-year-old Sudden Valley girl on Facebook in early September. He struck up a conversation and offered her $200 if she'd meet him downtown, without saying exactly what he meant to pay her for, according to the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office.

The girl's parents reported the Facebook chatting to police.

An undercover deputy continued to message with Duran, under the girl's name. Duran texted a photo of his penis and offered money for "skin photos," according to the sheriff's office.

The deputy, acting as the girl, told him she was 14. Duran originally thought she was a year younger, said Sheriff Bill Elfo.

On Oct. 1, Duran sent an image of a stack of $20 bills to the "girl." Duran said he would pay $150 for oral sex, Elfo said. They agreed to meet outside of Target in the Bellis Fair mall.

"Don't try anything...." Duran wrote, according to the sheriff's office. "I'm not a killer."

Deputies arrested him when he showed up outside the mall. He's accused of commercial sexual abuse of a minor.

Another law enforcement agency in Whatcom Couny has been investigating a separate sex case involving Duran. He's suspected of using the same meeting place, Bellis Fair, to buy explicit photos of a minor, Elfo said.
