Squalicum scores early, cruises to 4-0 win

The Squalicum girls' soccer team defeated Meridian 4-0 on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Civic Stadium.

Rachel Dorr got the Storm out to an early lead with a goal in the fourth minute off a Lauren Gibb assist. Kim Hazlett added a goal right before halftime to give Squalicum a 2-0 lead.

"I think both teams were pretty evenly matched," Squalicum coach David Kish said in a phone interview. "It was nice to get an early goal - to get that cushion."

Gracie Slater scored for the Storm in the 76th minute, and Gibb added the final goal a minute later.

"We started making a lot more passes," Kish said. "Earlier in the game, we seemed to be a little off. Near the end, we were making really pretty passing sequences."
