Area teams stay put in cross country rankings

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDOctober 2, 2013

There was no movement for Whatcom County teams in the latest Washington State Cross Country Coaches Poll.

Sehome still holds the top spots in both the boys' and girls' Class 2A polls, and the Northwest District dominates the top of both of those polls.

The Mariners are followed by No. 2 Lakewood, No. 3 Cedarcrest, No. 4 Squalicum and No. 5 Bellingham again, while the girls' poll still has Burlington-Edison at No. 2, Bellingham at No. 3 and Cedarcrest at No. 4. Lakewood also stayed put at No. 6 in the girls' poll.

In the 1A boys' poll Merdian held steady at No. 6, while Lynden Christian remained at No. 8 behind top-ranked Medical Lake. On the girls' side, Mount Baker remained at No. 4, Lynden Christian at No. 6 and Meridian at No. 10, while Nooksack Valley was listed among the others receiving votes behind top-ranked Lakeside.

There was no change at the top of the other polls, either, as the Gig Harbor boys and Camas girls were No. 1 in 4A, the North Central boys and Glacier Peak girls were No. 1 in 3A and the Tri-Cities Prep boys and St. John-Endicott girls were No. 1 in Class 2B/1B.
