Kim Hazlett had two goals and an assist as Squalicum girls' soccer defeated Bellingham 4-0 on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Civic Stadium. Lauren Gibb added two assists for the Storm.

"It was a pretty good battle for both teams. It took us a bit to warm up, but once we found our groove we were good," Squalicum coach David Kish said in a phone interview. "(Hazlett had) sheer determination, and the goals just came."

Kim Dorr and Braeden Hilleary scored Squalicum's other two goals in the game. Sarah Hulbert added an assist. Storm goalkeeper Bailey Canup had four saves in the shutout.

"They put a couple good shots on (Canup), but our defense did a nice job shutting down their forwards," Kish said.

Squalicum's next game is at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Civic Stadium against Meridian. Bellingham's next game is at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Pipeline Fields when the Red Raiders take on Blaine.
