Meridian girls' soccer shuts out Overlake

Meridian girls' soccer defeated Overlake 6-0 on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Meridian. The Trojans' Lexi McKinnon had two goals and two assists in the win.

"It was a pretty good team effort getting different players involved in the attack," Meridian coach Andrea Ames said in a phone interview. "We kind of mixed it up so we had a few different people getting looks at the goal."

Taylor Lunde had two goals and an assist, and her sister, Payton Lunde, added a goal and an assist for the Trojans. Meridian goalkeeper Sydney Gospodinovich wasn't really tested by the Overlake attack, Ames said.

"They had a couple of fast forwards, but our defenders did a good job of keeping tight pressure on them and keeping them away from the goal," Ames added.

Meridian's next game is at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Civic Field when the Trojans take on Squalicum.
