BELLINGHAM - The public will have an opportunity to learn about the city's habitat restoration master plan at a free open house Thursday, Oct. 3. The meeting is from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Best Western Lakeway Inn's Mount Baker Room, 714 Lakeway Drive.
The plan will provide a scientific approach to maintaining wildlife diversity and protecting species listed under the Endangered Species Act. The proposal will include refuge areas and corridors for fish and wildlife.
City officials want input on which restoration projects would be worth the cost, city ecology and restoration manager Renee LaCroix said.
For more information, go to cob.org and type "habitat restoration plan" in the search box, or call LaCroix at 360-778-7966.
