BELLINGHAM - A 22-year-old Western Washington University student reported being sexually assaulted by two men early Saturday morning, Sept. 28, according to Bellingham police.

The attack occurred at 2:30 a.m. Saturday on the 3000 block of Taylor Avenue, near Joe's Gardens off 32nd Avenue. It wasn't reported to Bellingham police until 10 a.m., when a friend of the victim contacted police, said Bellingham Police Sgt. Ken Brown.

The woman had been drinking downtown and was walking home alone when two men approached her and threw her to the ground and sexually assaulted her, said Brown. They were apparently scared by something and ran away.

Detectives have spoken to the victim and are investigating the assault; no suspect description was available Saturday afternoon.
