The Lynden girls' soccer team tied Burlington-Edison 2-2 on Thursday, Sept. 26, at Burlington-Edison.

Alexa Smiley scored the Lions' first goal on three minutes into the game. Jayme Smits gave Lynden a 2-0 lead after scoring in the 48th minute off an assist from Bailee Mulder.

"I think we came out really strong," Lynden coach Katie Yoder said in a phone interview. "(Alexa) and Jayme up front, if you can get the ball to their feet, they are going to do something with it."

Lynden's lead wouldn't last, though, as Burlington-Edison scored two second-half goals to tie the game, including one in extra time.

"Burlington-Edison never gave up," Yoder said.
