Anderson's second-place finish leads Ferndale girls' cross country to win

Ferndale girls' cross country defeated Meridian with 24 points Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Peace Arch Park. Blaine also participated, but didn't register a team score. The Borderites' Hillary Kiele won the the 5K race in a time of 20 minutes, 56 seconds.

Ferndale was led by Jillian Anderson's time of 21:26, which was good for second place overall. Meridian's McKenzie Roque was third with a time of 21:58.

Jana Peterson was the Golden Eagles' second runner at 22:59. Second for Meridian was Dena Andrushenko's time of 22:18, and Blaine's second runner was Kieya Villars in a time of 22:54.

All three schools will participate in the Mount Baker Invite at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 28, at Silver Lake Park.
