Mariners' doubles teams develop during boys' tennis sweep of Sedro-Woolley

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDSeptember 26, 2013

Sehome coach Bonna Giller witnessed tremendous growth in her doubles players during Sehome's 7-0 Northwest Conference win against Sedro-Woolley Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Sehome High.

Two of the Mariners' doubles teams won in three sets, and junior Aaron Goldfogle won despite playing with new playing partner Brendan Friesen.

"I think our kids grew by leaps and bounds in doubles," Giller said in a phone interview. "Our doubles are pretty new and inexperienced-type kids. They have been battling and scratching and clawing to win matches."

Singles players Brady Anderson, Max Shmotolohka and Reece Gilbert kept their perfect NWC records intact with two-set wins.

The Mariners (5-0, 5-0 NWC) host Lynden next at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26.
