Mount Baker volleyball loses close match with Friday Harbor

Friday Harbor volleyball defeated Mount Baker 3-2 on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Friday Harbor. The Mountaineers led early, but ended up losing 21-25, 23-25, 25-17, 25-23, 15-13.

"It was a mental battle with ourselves more than anything," Mount Baker coach Mary LeSage said in a phone interview. "We failed to take advantage of our leads and made some mental errors. The scores don't really reflect how well we played."

Emma Lallas led the Mountaineers with 17 kills and four aces, and Emily Yost added 30 assists and four aces. Maddy Tanis had five blocks for Mount Baker.

Mount Baker's next match is at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 26, when the Mountaineers host Lynden Christian.
