The Bellingham girls' swimming team defeated Lynden 106-64 on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Lynden YMCA.

Yvonne DuBois and Maddie Gillman had strong meets for the Red Raiders, with Gillman qualifying for state in two events - the 200 freestyle and the 100 backstroke - and Dubois qualifying for district in the individual medley and the 100 breaststroke.

"I think the whole team has kicked it into a higher gear," Bellingham coach Jeff Anderson said in a phone interview. "It is starting to show in their times, getting more district times and state times. The team all of a sudden caught fire in practice last week, and it is fun to watch."

Lynden's Sarah Hollander qualified for districts in the individual medley and 100 backstroke.
