Food Truck Round Up to benefit Whatcom County food banks

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDSeptember 24, 2013

BELLINGHAM - Industrial Credit Union will kick off its community food drive events with a Food Truck Round Up on Saturday, Sept. 28.

The event, which benefits Whatcom County food banks, runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be at 1200 Iowa St., in the empty lot near Wilson Motors. A variety of food trucks are scheduled to participate, including Cicchitti's Pizza, Wafl Stop, Hot Mess and Chihuahua's. The event also will have a beer garden, featuring Kulshan Brewing Co. brews. Live music and activities for children are planned.

Presale tickets at $10 each are available at Industrial Credit Union branches, Haggen stores in Whatcom County, Cruisin Coffee locations, Bellingham Grocery Outlet, and Kelley Insurance through Wednesday, Sept. 25. They include five taste tickets for the trucks at the event. Those attending without the presale tickets will be asked to make a donation and can then purchase items from the food truck menus.

The Food Truck Round Up is a precursor to the 19th annual Feed the Need Community Food Drive, which starts in October. According to a news release from ICU, the goal is to donate more than 300,000 pounds of food to Whatcom County food banks.
