Silver Reef wins Best Bite at Bellingham food event

BELLINGHAM - The Steak House at Silver Reef Hotel, Casino and Spa won the overall Best Bite at the annual Bite of Bellingham.

The seared tuna with Asian slaw in a fried gyoza wrapper garnered the most votes among the approximately 3,000 attendees who cast ballots at the Sunday, Sept. 22, event, held at Depot Market Square.

Best Gluten-Free Bite went to Pure Bliss Desserts for its Nanaimo bars. Pure Bliss also took Sweetest Sweet with its chocolate salted-caramel cupcake.

The India Grill's chai tea, featuring cloves, cardamom, milk and light sugar, won Dreamiest Drink.

Dennis Schafer of the Oyster Bar at Bayou on Bay won the inaugural Best Bartender award.

Dozens of local restaurants and food carts participate in the event, which is put on by the Downtown Bellingham Partnership.
