Knutson taking medical leave from Bellingham council

BELLINGHAM - City Council member Gene Knutson expects to be sidelined for about a month as a result of an Oct. 8, 2013, back surgery.

Knutson, who has endured five previous surgeries, expects to be in Swedish Orthopedic Institute in Seattle until Oct. 13, and will be working his way back to normal activity levels after that.

The 2nd Ward council member expects to be back to full council duty by early November.
